South Cliff Farm Fishery ( A15 North of Lincoln )

South Cliff Farm Fishery ( A15 North of Lincoln )

My second visit to South Cliff farm fishery.....a week after my first trip rewarded me with 6 carp to 14Ib and 2 bream of about a pound each. I decided to fish on the nearest bank to the car park, the opposite side to the week before.

I set up two rods to fish with boilies on the bottom and one rod was used to present dog biscuits on the surface; which was very successful a week earlier.

The carp started taking biscuits from the surface straight away and the reel on my dog biscuit rod soon burst into life as the baitrunner began peeling off line at great speed. The result was the first fish of the day......a 10 Ib 8oz mirror carp.

I re-casted the dog biscuit rod to a similar position to the first take and 10 minutes later the baitrunner burst into life yet again with another mirror carp.

The next two takes on the surface rod yielded two bream, both around the 2.5 to 3 Ib mark.......and for a while the bream in the lake were messing around with the dog biscuits, but they were quite difficult to hook on the size 10 hair rig.

Time out to take a few pictures of the venue, the latter showing the three rod set up.....

Looking straight across to the far bank.......you can just about see my red/orange float with the dog biscuit rig.

The rod held vertically was used to present a dog biscuit directly on the surface, with a hair rig hanging down from the main line to the float. This enables you to present a floating bait with NO line on the surface around the bait......this really enhances the number of takes due to helping to increase the confidence of the fish. After a short period of mis-takes the reel screamed off again and yielded a 18 Ib common carp...

The 4th carp, smallest fish of the session, and the only one taken off the bottom on a boilie. A 6 Ib mirror carp.

I had literally just unhooked the small mirror carp when the surface rod screamed off yet again......the reward, the 5th carp, the biggest carp of the day, weighing in at 18 Ib 4oz
18 Ib 4oz, fin perfect common carp.......I was happier than I looked!!

The next few hours led to 6 more carp being taken off the surface on dog biscuit, the boilie rods had no more takes at all.
Here are the pictures of the fish......

A fantastic days fishing......11 carp to 18 Ib 4oz and 2 nice bream.

Eight of the eleven carp were doubles, with two of them being 18 Ib.........I will be definitely hunting for a twenty pound fish on the surface in future weeks, and it will be interesting to see how this lake fishes during the winter, when the carp get their heads down.

South Cliff Farm Fishery ( A15 Lincoln )

South Cliff Farm Fishery ( A15 Lincoln )

My first time fishing at South Cliff Farm fishery on the A15 just North of Lincoln. I had walked round this venue the day before and seen a few carp taking bait off the surface and on the drop, so I decided to go back the next day and target the carp with surface baits......dog biscuits.

I arrived at 8am and quickly set up a carp rod to present a dog biscuit about 20 metres from the bank. Once I had got the carp taking a few loose offerings, they started to become much more bold and I got a few mis-takes. After leaving the bait out there for a while I had my first proper take which resulted in the 14 Ib Mirror carp below.....

More fish soon followed and I managed to take a total of 6 carp and 2 Bream. The carp were......14 Ib, 7Ib 12oz, 12Ib 12oz, 9Ib, 8Ib and then another double of 12Ib 2oz. The bream were both about 1.5Ib.

I might have to try coming back here next week and try fishing boilies on the bottom as well as biscuits on the surface.......apparently the carp go up to around 27 Ib in here !!!

Langsdale Lakes ( Willow lake ) at Langworth

Langsdale Lakes ( Willow lake ) at Langworth

So it's nearing the end of September and I decided to have a few hours back on Willow lake, one of the lakes at Langdale lakes near Langworth. My friend and work colleague Megan popped to visit me.....apparently she has fished before.....I fished close in against some lily pads using a waggler, 6Ib line fished straight through to a size 16 hook. Bait : Sweetcorn and maggot.

I caught a number of very small carp; the pics below show the three biggest fish of the day....even though they are still small !!

A1 Pits complex near Newark

A1 Pits complex near Newark

I decided to have a day Carp fishing with my mate Stitch down at the 6 lakes at the A1 Pits complex near Newark.

Well, what can I say, neither of us had any runs in our 9 hours on the bank, and from what I gathered from the other anglers there, no one had actually caught anything that day. ( It was very hot !! )

I was a bit restless and so decided to pass the time the time with a bit of photography........

Langdale Lakes ( Willow lake ) at Langworth

Langdale Lakes ( Willow lake ) at Langworth

This was my first fishing trip of the year. It was also my first fishing trip for about 16 years, due to work commitments.....I just woke up one morning, found all of my fishing tackle in my double garage and thought....hey, why not head fishing again.....and now I have the fishing bug once again.

6Ib Mirror carp taken on a piece of Cheese
So I popped to Langdale lakes at Langworth and fished on Willow lake. Fishing on the pole with 12 elastic, 5Ib line through to a 4Ib hook length and a size 16 hook, I fished a combination of bread and cheese. I took 5 small carp up to 6Ib.

Not a bad introduction to the fishing world after a 16 year break......definitely caught the fishing bug once again!!
